Our Mission
At the Hearts Saved by Grace Foundation, we aim to make a positive difference in the lives of families through education and support by reducing the number of deaths each year from Sudden Cardiac Arrest due to undetected heart conditions and disease. There are so many lives lost annually to SCA and heart disease, so we want to reduce those numbers and start increasing the number of hearts saved by grace! Heart disease is the number one cause of death globally.
We also provide scholarship opportunities for the youth in need to help mentor and support them in achieving their goals, dreams and vision and enforce walking by faith and not by sight.
“Above all else guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23

What We Do
About Us
This foundation was originally established in June 2004 after the loss of our family member, husband, father, teacher, and friend to many.
Derrick Faison passed away unexpectedly from a SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) in 2004, from an undetected heart condition. He was playing a pickup game of basketball at the time when he collapsed. Unfortunately, there was not an AED at that gym that fateful day to help resuscitate him. Derrick was a loved and respected Alternative Education teacher in OC Department ACCESS and also a former professional athlete.
At the Hearts Saved by Grace Foundation, we donate and place Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at schools, sports facilities, and public facilities, to support cardiac screenings. We help youth and adults become CPR/AED certified and educate the public about Sudden Cardiac Arrest and heart disease. We also support the education and training of youth and young adults by providing scholarships to qualified students. Our youth is very important, and we want to support youth in need all over the world.
The heart is the most important organ in the body and we want to make sure that we can save as many hearts by grace.
We have many partners that focus on “the heart” and have joined us in becoming “heart safe” advocates.

Our History
Since 2004, our focus has been on donating and assisting in placing as many AED’s annually at various schools and public facilities in Orange and Los Angeles counties and supporting heart organizations. We support CPR/AED certification classes and CPR training in schools and in the community. We have been heart safe advocates and have always supported heart safe advocacy, especially the importance of annual heart screenings for early detection and education through our monthly heart health day newsletter. We have added new partners in the overall “heart care” as everything starts with our hearts and our “heart posture” and what we allow to flow in. We are excited for the new season for Hearts Saved by Grace, and we want to help save many hearts by grace.
